Time Is Borrowed But People Are Too

Time isn't the only thing borrowed in life, yet it is the most valuable. It allows us to spend that time with loved ones. But people are borrowed too.

We focus on living life to the fullest and that's fine, but sometimes we narrow our focus to how we pass that time as opposed to whom we pass it with. What would our lives be like if all we focused on was to have a good time and have a fun ride if we pass our lives alone? The truth is, we need companionship, whether it be in a form of a friend, family, or a partner, or even a pet. I mean, we need someone to have fun with along our lives right? But even then we take both for granted.

People and pets, our loved ones, are all too temporary and borrowed in our lives. We make plans to spend time with them, we cherish their friendship, we value their time as well as ours, and we bond with them. But by our own demise or by that of natures' they leave our lives. Either we didn't appreciate their time that they've invested in us or their time ran out. In any case we learn to appreciate people better the next time around since they make our time on this planet more bearable. The same is said about pets =].

Time is precious and valuable, and in high demand, but spend it wisely, don't take it for granted or the people that it brings into your life. Remember that their time is valuable too. Don't waste their time. Don't "use" their time but actually give them time, it becomes more precious that way. Another thing that people and pets give us, besides their time, are memories. Make those times memorable. Leave their hearts with good memories and good times. This way your time will be extended, as well as theirs.

Spend time better. Live better. Love better. Share your time, it's better that way. Make time.

What's The Poll on Office Bullies?

What’s the Poll on Office Bullies?

Yay or nay? Do you remember the last time you were bullied? I mean, if you were like me, introverted, shy, and a nerd, you were probably at least picked on. But that was high school! I survived it! And I deffo wouldn’t allow it at my high school reunion, so why should we tolerate it in the workplace? I mean for starters between colleagues it’s completely inappropriate cos well you’re just a colleague and I will let you know about it, but what about when it’s a supervisor?
Now, I’m very polite and even more patient, but don’t confuse those two for some form of consent. I let a lot of things go and slide cos well as a very patient person I understand that sometimes there are reasons beyond reason and they might be petty to fuss over and ruin my day. But to keep at it without any form of acknowledgement or remorse then you have to realise at some point even pressure needs to escape somewhere.
I also respect my superiors which is why I understand sometimes they must be “tough” if they need things to get done. But I’m not that type of employee that you need to keep being tough on because I actually do what’s expected of me without having to be babysat.
So why? Is it an ego thing? Is it a control issue? Is it a God complex?
Well, whatever the reason, it’s inappropriate! It’s also bordering on harassment, you know, that part where an uncomfortable environment is created, one of intimidation and hostility. It needs to stop.

AIDS Walk New York 2014

AIDS Walk New York 2014

Sunday, 18 May 2014

So this year I am at it again with +AIDS Walk NY! Last year I was a team captain for the Superhero Walkers, and the year before that I had +John Stamos as my Champion Sponsor, so I am deffo looking forward to working with all of you amazing people again.

This year I am taking the back seat and joining a team instead. I was undecided if forming my own again or walking with Gotham Volleyball where I play. But I found a really good offer with GMHC that I just could not refuse! GMHC will MATCH 100% of all of my donations starting March 1st for a LIMITED TIME ONLY!

Lets see how that works. GMHC has a pot of $25,000 and they will match donations until that pot runs out. It usually last about two weeks for the funds to drain and commences at midnight March 1st. So what happens? I only have to raise $500 to become a Star Walker because it will be doubled! But I do not want to stop there! I have made a goal for myself of $1,000 so of course I want to double that with all of your help and GMHC combined! But we must start right away before all the funds run out so that they can be DOUBLED, then after that it will just be what I can raise on my own efforts. So lets start tonight, Friday, 28 February at midnight!!

Last year I had raffles and gift cards to make it fun and I enjoyed doing them. This year I will continue that, but I also want to add some spins to that and add new events to better my chances at surpassing my goal. I want to make it as fun as possible to donate your time and efforts, and not just make it about donating.

Now since I work with numbers I joined No Stigma-Team Finance ( you can tick our team name and see our team page), and you can see our progress as a team. But to personally donate to my page then you should donate here: Richard Michael :)

Of course I am already thinking of the first three people to donate, the early bird gets a worm, they say. Well I already have a surprise lined up for the first three early birds!! And they are all different so it will really count to be FIRST!! Set your reminders for Midnight and be ready tonight!! Ready, Set, Click!!!

Ever think, "What a bad day at work I'm having?" Well think again.

Came across this video on +YouTube  of a postman trying to just do his job and encounters a slight scratch. "Tis a scratch!"

AIDS Walk New York 2013

AIDS Walk New York 2013

This is my second year walking with +AIDS Walk NY benefitting GMHC. Last year I walked alone, and although I had no team formed, I had a team of sponsors, amongst friends and family, but also included a celebrity. Yes! I was sponsored last year by +John Stamos. He donated $500.00 and I was the proudest walker last year. And this year I decided to make a stronger comeback by forming a team, Superhero Walkers, and beating last years' total of $950.00, which was only $50.00 from being a Star Walker. I was so close! Currently we have raised $1,385.00 thanks to all my sponsors and my Team Co-Captain, which made the Star Walkers status by the way. Although I have not recruited any celebrities yet, I have passed last years' total but I am still searching for that one celebrity to surprise me with their kind generosity. So please tick above or here, Superhero Walkers, to donate and be our hero.

John Stamos--my Champion Donor

I named my team Superhero Walkers 'cause I am a fan of them myself. My favourite one being Superman, but I do love them all, I brought the theme to the team 'cause when one is walking for a cause or one is donating for a cause, I believe they are being a hero. My team members who are walking, since I also have a few "Virtual Walkers" who, while not walking are still dedicated friends who are helping me achieve my goal from other states such as Florida and Pennsylvania, will be wearing superhero T-shirts on the day of the walk. I, as the team leader, will be wearing a Superman T-shirt, no surprise there, and my Co-Captain will be wearing a Captain America T-shirt, so you get the idea.

 Go Co-Captain America !

The AIDS Walk New York will be held on Sunday 19 May, 2013 starting at Central Park's Columbus Circle entrance and heading up to the end of it at 110th Street and then coming back down on Riverside Drive and passing by my old High School on 84th Street, Louis D Brandeis High School, and ending back at Central Park for a total of 10 kilometres, rain or shine of course.

Now, it is hard raising funds but I also make it fun, I have offered my team members free $25.00 gift cards to the first 3 team members who raise $250.00 that I'll get from my rewards programs and just last Sunday I held a raffle for all current donors as of last Saturday who can win cool prizes that have been given away at functions to all team leaders. Watch the video to see them and the raffle itself. By the way there will be another raffle next Sunday 12 May for those of you who are in the procrastination stage so make your donations this week to be in the drawing!

So hopefully these incentives and also this post can gather some more donations and hopefully some celebrity sponsors to help us achieve our team goal of $2,000.00!

Not Myself

Not Myself

"Not Myself Tonight"--Christina Aguilera

Now I picked this personal favourite of mine because this post is about not being what others want us to be but to be ourselves. And I know +Christina Aguilera says she does NOT want to be herself, but listening and reading a little deeper we can find that maybe we should be this "Not Myself" more often than one night and that that side is more our truer side and we should not care to be any other way every day, and like she says, if they don't like it then F*** you !

I watched CBS This Morning and saw that this photographer had made it from the net to the news on TV. Her name is +Haley Morris-Cafiero and she is overweight and goes around the world taking pictures of herself, but the real subject of the photograph is the person directly behind her in different locations along with their reactions to her weight and her look. Check out her own website for more pictures of her project "Wait Watchers."

She is a very brave girl and I give her all the support and credit for doing what she does because I know others will have trouble finding it in themselves to look past society's judgemental eye and break free from what society sees as "normal" and "what should be," and just be themselves. And 'tis quite embarrassing, not only to her subjects after finding their facial expressions plastered all over the net, but to society as a whole that is so quick to judge and mock but with such outward display and disregard for the human heart.

Haley has no control of her weight gain. It's contributed to a thyroid problem that cause increase in weight. She is like any other human that eats the sweets she desires. She holds a MFA in Art from University in Arizona, a BFA in Ceramics and BA in Photography from University of North Florida, and she is currently an Associate Professor and Head of Photography Department at Memphis College of Art. A curriculum that would put me to shame, I'd say, since I only have an Associates in Accounting and Business Management, so she is to be respected and not looked upon as an uneducated individual. If anything, the uneducated humans here are her subjects, and ignorant, had they any curiosity about our fellow humans and try for healthy interactions I dare say they might be saved from perils of idiocy.

Cheers,

And be kind to one another.
